At last, finally, the human race has achieved their ultimate goal. They have become gods.
Unfortunately only four of them have survived. They survey the emptiness that surrounds them. Nothing else remains.
Absolutely nothing!
'Well, that's a pity,' one says.
'Hardly worth the trouble,' adds a second.
A third shakes her head.
The fourth shrugs. 'It's too late to change anything now.'
All four disintegrate.
Somewhere in the midst of the nothingness, a nervous voice speaks.
'Are they gone?'
